Run, run as fast as you can....

You can't catch me.

I'm the Gingerbread Man!

The past few weeks we have been studying the Gingerbread Man. We have been reading different versions of the fairy tale and comparing their characters, chant and ending. We wrapped up the unit by making gingerbread man cookies!

Fire Prevention Week

This week we are learning about fire safety and prevention!
Ask your child what they know about fire safety.

Writer's Workshop

We were given a writing partner to help us make our writing even better! The students also got to make their very first books! The students practiced "telling a story across the pages" with their partner to help think of ideas about what to write.

Apple Life Cycle

This week we learned about the life cycle of an apple. We read books and watched a video that helped us act out the life cycle!

September 15-19

We sang Wheels on the Bus and read wacky version of the story Seals on the Bus

We used our five senses to explore an apple. The students taste tested three different kinds of apples and voted on their favorite. We made paintings of our favorite apple.
On Friday we made apple sauce. Yummmm!

September 8-12

The last few weeks have been very busy in room 5! We are continuing to focus on the procedures of the school and of our classroom. Worked together the first week to create a list of classroom expectations based on each child's hope and dream for kindergarten.

Here is what we came up with....

We are learning about our five senses and explored a coconut last week!

We practiced being "book lovers" and reading wordless books.
